THERE'S A SUMMIT FLAG GOING TO THE TOP OF K2.

BE ON IT.

#ASK4HELP

IT'S OK TO NOT BE OK

It has never been more important to discuss mental health and well being than now.

However, we live in a society where discussing topics like depression, anxiety and suicide are met with stigma, ignorance and dismissal. Fear of judgement, being labelled as weak, or even crazy, prevent people from getting the help they need.

THERE IS HELP OUT THERE

Sadly, the courageous step to ask for help is one many people never take.

OUR OBJECTIVE

We want the crisis of mental health to get the attention it deserves. This expedition is the ideal platform to spread a message that will dispel the stigma around depression and anxiety with the hope of improving lives, and preventing suicides with a message of hope.

Climbing K2 scares the sh*t out of me. But if my steps up that mountain can inspire someone to take a brave step of their own... then that's what I am going to do.

'Asking for help isn't weak. It's a great example of

how to take care of yourself.'

ABOUT ROBBY

In 2009 I started the Climb of Hope, a project that used my expedition to climb Mount Everest as an awareness campaign for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

This time I want to climb K2 with a new campaign. Ask4Help aims to give the issues of mental health and wellness the attention they deserve.

Me suffering from depression and anxiety, and losing my father to suicide, are what makes this campaign  so important to me. I want to  promote a culture of asking for help and dispelling toxic stigma.

If I learned one thing from my Everest campaign, it was to ask for help, and then have the courage to accept it.

This time round, I'm asking for help again - for several reasons. Financially, but also physically and psychologically. I need to get into the best shape of my life and target the weakness in my ankles as well as dealing with the self-doubt and confidence issues that are a result of GAD (General anxiety disorder.)

ABOUT K2

K2 (8611m) is second in height only to Mount Everest, but it is much harder. It is mentally and physically more demanding, it is technically more difficult and the being further North than its bigger sister, K2 experiences colder and fiercer weather patterns.

We are attempting to place the first South African flag on the summit and return safely home.
